A Walk on the Wilder Side

Monadnock Falconry offers you the opportunity to take a walk with a Harris’ Hawk and a Master Falconer. In a 60- or 90-minute session, you will spend time in the field with a hunting raptor and watch him fly in to your own fist! Get answers to the questions you’ve always wanted to ask: What makes a bird of prey tick? What ticks him off? What use can he have for a human being trudging along underneath him? Learn about this fascinating family of predators and about the falconers who have worked closely with them through the ages.

Falconry 101 - Hawks in Flight

In this 60-minute lesson, you’ll learn what raptors are all about. How powerful are their eyes? What makes them such good hunters? Why do they come back to the glove? Hands-on instruction in some basic falconry principles, including the opportunity to “catch” a flying bird, is included.

1-4 people: $200
5-8 people: $250

These are total costs, not per person.

Falconry 202 - The Hunting Hawk

In this 90-minute lesson, we’ll go on a ramble through the grounds of The Grouse Woods, giving the hawk time to get into full hunting mode. Along with everything included in Falconry 101, you’ll learn the mechanics of hunting behavior and help beat the brush for possible prey. The transformation of a fluffy, mild-mannered bird into a streak of greased lightning is not to be missed!

1-4 participants: $250
5-8 participants: $300

These are total costs, not per person.
